Hello and Welcome!
I am Eugenia
I’m a bilingual psychotherapist offering online therapy to adults throughout California. My clinical work brings together a range of interests and specialties, including trauma and its lasting effects, parenting and family relationships, reproductive and perinatal experiences, and the psychological challenges of navigating major life transitions. I also work with expatriates and individuals experiencing migration grief, cultural adjustment, and questions of identity and belonging.
With more than 20 years of clinical experience in Argentina and the United States, I bring an international and cross-cultural perspective to psychotherapy. My background includes extensive work with children, adolescents, and parents, which has shaped my understanding of early relational experiences and how family dynamics continue to shape us throughout adulthood. I hold a doctorate in Social Sciences, am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California, an EMDR Certified Therapist™, and a psychologist licensed in Argentina. I am also the author of "Cosa de Mujeres. Menstruación, Género y Poder", and "Menstrual Bodies and Gender".
My approach integrates psychodynamic psychotherapy and EMDR, attending both to the experiences that bring someone to therapy today and to the deeper relational patterns, emotions, and histories that may shape their present. Whether working through complex or single-incident trauma, adjusting to parenthood, navigating fertility treatment or perinatal experiences, or rebuilding a sense of home and identity after relocation, I offer a thoughtful space for exploration, processing, and change.
I provide therapy in English and Spanish, with attention to each person's individual history, relationships, and cultural context.

My approach:
KINTSUGI, a metaphor for the gift of therapy

I like to think about therapeutic process through the metaphor of KINTSUGI, also known as “golden repair”. The word ‘kintsugi’ comes from the Japanese words kin (gold) and tsugi (join). The art of kintsugi involves putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold. The repaired cracks of the pottery represent the healing process and the creation of an even more beautiful piece enhancing the broken pieces instead of hiding them.
Imperfections are beautiful. Kintsugi is more than a form of art, it is a philosophy. It elevates the beauty and functionality of a broken object. According to this philosophy, a break is not a loss but a form of existence. Certain events in human lives can leave deep wounds, sometimes scars, that seem impossible to repair. However, overcoming and fixing them with valuable, stronger bonds is also part of life. Rather than discarding the broken parts of an object, they are intentionally accentuated, to make them a part of its history. Kintsugi is a struggle against fragmentation, it highlights the progress from the moment a piece was first broken. Vulnerability is welcomed and strengthened; no aspect of human existence is considered a flaw.

Over the past 20+ years of experience in the field of mental health, my clients have repeatedly shared with me that I have a warm, non-judgemental, compassionate, sharp, insightful, and, when needed, direct style as a psychotherapist. I approach consultations by listening carefully, being curious to understand the complexity of human symptoms. Only after that crucial step for you and for me, I provide reflection, tools, and support needed to move past the experiences that are keeping you stuck and to enable you to get back to living fully.
I have acquired an extensive and culturally sensitive toolkit of psychotherapy practices, which enables me to customize treatments to the unique situation of each of my clients. As applicable, I will work collaboratively with other members of your care team to create a positive synergy and ensure a cohesive plan. Finally, I believe that mental health is intertwined with your physical, social, and spiritual health.
How I work

I GET TO KNOW YOU
I want to get to know you to understand how I can best support you. First, we will do an initial consultation where we evaluate whether we are a good fit. If we aren’t, I will provide you some referrals. If we are, we will schedule an initial appointment. I will send you paperwork to complete, and after that, we will start our first 5 sessions whereby I conduct a thorough assessment. If my client is a child, the first session or two is with the child’s parents.

WE CREATE A PLAN
After session 5, we collectively determine the best therapy to use as a course of treatment, and equip you (and your child if you are consulting for them) with the tools you need to make progress outside of the therapy office.

I SUPPORT YOU ON YOUR THERAPY JOURNEY
We keep our communication open. If you are consulting for your child, we will do it while protecting confidentiality so your child can feel safe to express themselves, while you have the comfort of knowing what progress is being made. I cannot predict the length of treatment to achieve the therapeutic goals. I don’t rush the process even though I will strategize on how we can measure your progress. I will follow you and meet you where you are at.
